Script, Budget, Financing Details, Production Schedule
We will ask you to send us a copy of each of these. We will read the script and analyze the budget and production schedule in order to establish that the project is feasible.
Meeting with Key Creative staff
Should we require, it is often helpful for us to meet with the Producer, Director, Production Manager and any other members of the Key Creative staff as necessary.
The Letter of Intent and
Shopping List
We can now issue a letter outlining our desire to be involved in the project which will state our Fee, the total Gross Budget and the Contingency amount.
Also, we’ll provide a list of legal documents to be supplied to our lawyers. The legal documents will include all agreements detailing that the financing will be in place prior to issuance of the bond; chain of title; details of deferments; key personnel agreements; insurance cover notes including Entertainment Package, Civil Responsibility, E&O and Essential Elements if necessary; production bank details; delivery date(s); delivery materials and lab details.
Should the legal requirements be satisfied, we are ready to close when you are. |
Monitoring the Production
We require daily updates as to the progress of the production once it has gone to camera. We are faxed each day’s Call Sheet and Production Report and, if necessary, Hot Cost Reports. We are copied on weekly Cost Reports. Our interest is purely in ensuring that everything is proceeding on schedule so, although we are available for advice and consultation, we will not involve ourselves unless there are production problems or as requested by the producer. If we have to, however, we will step in and take the necessary steps to keep the production on the rails, from a simple discussion with Key Creative personnel to replacing a member of the team, from producer on down. This is a rare situation, though, and we would prefer to work with the production team rather than replace them.
Once principal photography is complete, we continue to monitor the production and will be in constant contact with the Producer or Post Production Supervisor. We stay with the project right up until it is delivered to and accepted by the distributor or broadcaster. Should there be a delay on the agreed-upon delivery date, we require a sign-off by the distributor/ broadcaster and the bank.
