President Film Finances Canada

President of the leading independently-owned bonding company in Canada, Jim’s career has covered many diverse aspects of film production. Starting as a production accountant, Jim has been in the film and television industry since 1983. He has worked on numerous independent and studio productions, and held the role of production controller at Primedia as well as Atlantis Films.

Jim started his bonding career with The Completion Guarantors (TCG) in 1996, working with John Ross, and was appointed President of the company in 2001. At TCG, Jim oversaw all aspects of the bonding process, from review to delivery, and his understanding of the industry and financing earned him the trust of his clients. Having been in the industry close to 30 years, Jim believes in providing producers with various options and multiple plans for financing a film, and has been known to offer his vast career experience as a valuable resource during production. In 2003 The Completion Guarantors (TCG) merged with Film Finances, and Jim has since then been the President of Film Finances Canada.

Besides managing the daily operations of Film Finances Canada, Jim enjoys hobbies such as cycling, squash and carpentry. A family man as well as a community leader, Jim is married with two teenagers and has been a Big Brother. Recently, he has become a supporter of Digital Storytellers, a filmmaking program for under-privileged youth.
